British and French Exchange Students Visit Sewickley Academy

Sewickley Academy also participates in exchanges in Germany, China, Australia, Costa Rica, and Romania.

Sewickley Academy welcomed exchange students and faculty Wednesday from both the Perse School in Cambridge, England, and from the Institution Stanislas in Nice, France.

For the next two weeks, both groups will become immersed in the Sewickley Academy community, attending classes and staying with host families.

Also, during their stay, the groups will visit Pittsburgh-area attractions, such as Falling Water, the Pittsburgh and Monongahela Incline, the Andy Warhol Museum, and a Pirates game.

The French students and their hosts will also meet Monday with Pittsburgh’s Honorary Consul of France Jean-Dominique Le Garrec, where he will speak about representing France in a different country.

The exchange with the Perse School is in its second year at the Academy. This summer, the Academy students who are hosting the British guests will travel to Cambridge for their own two-week exchange experience.

This is the first time the Academy has hosted a group from the Institution Stanislas. The visit will set the groundwork for a reciprocal exchange that will be launched next school year.

In addition to the Perse and Stanislas exchange programs, Sewickley Academy also participates in exchanges with Erasmus-Grasser-Gymnasium in Germany, Wuhan School #3 in China, Central Coast Grammar School in Australia, the Colegio de Santa Maria in Costa Rica, and the International School of Cluj in Romania.
