Pledge Party

This fall, Local Government Academy's Newly Elected Officials Course Alumni Association will host three events in the region to give candidates for local office the opportunity to learn about LGA's Pledge to Excellence and the Newly Elected Officials Course, which will begin after the general election this fall.

Hundreds of local elected officials have completed the Academy's Newly Elected Officials Course, benefitting for expert instruction on a variety of topics related to governing at the local level - from roles and responsibilities in public safety, infrastructure and community development, to the nuts and bolts of The Sunshine Act and Right to Know Law to human resource management topics that are relevant to public sector employees. Those who have completed the course routinely report that their participation helped immensely in preparing them for their term in office.

Members of the Alumni Association would like to share their experiences with you at these upcoming events, encourage you to take the Pledge to Excellence and mark your calendars for the Newly Elected Officials Course, which will officially begin on Saturday, November 19 at the Pittsburgh Marriott City Center Hotel in downtown Pittsburgh (near Consol Energy Center). In addition, civic leaders from around the region will give you an insight as to some of the important local government topics that you will encounter during your term in office.
