Wine Tasting with the Naked Grape

Sweetwater is teaming up with to offer this exciting new wine tasting class, Wine Tasting: Rhone Diaspora. The Rhone varietals from France, both the famous red and lesser-known white, have traveled the world, sparking excitement in Australia with Shiraz and in California with Syrah (the same grape as Shiraz) and the white Viognier, among other grapes. If you’ve enjoyed the Aussie examples, but haven’t explored the original wines that influenced those winemakers, you’re in for a delightful surprise. The class will explore the intriguingly different styles these grapes have taken in the various parts of the Old and New Worlds. Materials fee is included in the tuition.

Philip Real can be found regularly behind the wine bar at the Naked Grape in Sewickley. He writes the Crush Column for Table magazine. He ran Prelude Wine Bar at the Pittsburgh Renaissance Hotel, taught Wine Studies at the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute, and managed San Francisco wine shops.

This workshop is for students who are 21 and older. Due to the nature of culinary arts classes, Sweetwater is unable to accommodate food allergies/dietary restrictions. Pre-registration is required for classes in the culinary arts. Call to register.
