If you're looking for fun weekend plans, there's plenty to do without having to leave town this weekend. From Light Up Night festivities to live holiday music -- and a musical -- locals should have no problem finding a worthwhile engagement.

Why Go: You wouldn’t want to miss out on this annual . Performers will include Dancing Queen and No Bad Juju on the main stage and musical and dance groups in parking lot. The night culminates with a fireworks show.

When/Where: 7 p.m. tonight in Rea Auditorium, .

Why Go: Enjoy as part of the a concert of holiday sounds from around the globe with Academy strings teacher Jhonnatan Mata and his string quartet, along with many student musicians. The quartet has a full repertoire of chamber music, including contemporary Latin American music, and was formed in 2001 while in the chamber music program at Duquesne University.

When/Where: 5 to 9 p.m. Saturday at , Sewickley

Why Go: Celebrate in the Village, then stop by Sweetwater for a three-course meal prepared by the all-male volunteer-turned-gourmet chef team. Don’t forget to spend some time shopping. About 100 artists will have specially-handcrafted wares for sale just in time for the holidays. Bring your shopping list, and cross everyone off in one trip.

Price: $15 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. Tickets will be available at door. shopping is free with shopping extended until 10 p.m.

 

4. Thoroughly Modern Millie Jr.

When/Where: 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. Saturday, in the auditorium, Leetsdale.

Why Go: This zany, toe-tapping musical takes place in 1920s New York City and stars a full cast of 's performers.

When/Where: 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Wolcott Park on Broad Street, Sewickley.

Why Go: Enjoy the parade, then stay in town to visit Santa and enjoy music in Wolcott Park. Free horse drawn carriage rides will be featured. Stop by the after the parade to to Santa until 1 p.m.

Price: Free.

When/Where: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Robin Hill Park, 949 Thorn Run Road, Moon.

Why Go: Celebrate the season with Moon Parks and Recreation and a variety of community groups, with activities that include Breakfast with Santa, a Holiday Craft Sale and a Greens Sale.

Price: Free. Breakfast with Santa for grades K-3 is $5 per person. Attendees must purchase tickets to reserve seats at the breakfast. Call the Moon Park Office at 412-262-1703 for information.
