“Being a 'Positive Athlete' symbolizes something,” Ward said. “I wasn’t even the most talented guy on my football team – there were a lot of guys who had more talent. But I think what separated us was their negative attitude. I think that’s what the Positive Athlete Voting Academy saw in Austin as well”.

Grieger received an award certificate signed by Ward and an autographed 'Positive Athlete Dedication' T-shirt that he dedicated to his golf coach, Matthew Welch as well as his parents, Daryl and Susan Grieger.

“Austin is a great representative of Quaker Valley athletics, specifically Quaker Valley golf and this award is a great fit for him and his personality, “ Welch said. “I believe his positive attitude contributed to the team’s pushing to their greatest record in school history, fifth place overall in the WPIAL AA.”

Grieger and other award winners will be guests of the Pittsburgh Pirates during a home game May 9. They'll be brought onto the field to watch batting practice and meet players.
