Moon School Board Approves Quaker Valley Wrestling Agreement

The plan now rests with Quaker Valley.

The Moon Area School Board has approved a cooperative agreement between the Moon and Quaker Valley wrestling programs.

The agreement, which spans from the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 seasons, will enable the wrestling teams to work alongside one another.

Moon's program will remain in operation at no additional cost to the district through the measure.

The cooperative agreement is dependent upon approval from the Quaker Valley School Board.

QV Athletic Director Mike Mastroianni said the matter is currently in discussions.

"It’s not official until our board approves it," he said.

Quaker Valley School Board met on Tuesday, but did not approve the agreement at the meeting. The agreement would have to be approved in October.

Mastrioianni said Quaker Valley never had a full-time wrestling program and there has been some interest from students in high school and younger grades.

If approved, Moon Area would be the host school for the program, he said.

The district has shared program experiences with other school sports teams. This year, the Quaker Valley football porgram has joined forces with Cornell School District.

Quaker Valley school officials recently said similar program-sharing opportunities would be explored.
