Quaker Valley Administrator Named As 'Distinguished Educator'

Assistant superintendent Heidi Ondek receives the award.

Quaker Valley's assistant superintendent Heidi Ondek has received the 2013 Distinguished Female Educator Award from the Tri-State Area School Student Council.

The award honors school administrators leadership within their school districts. Ondek was nominated for the annual award by superintendent Joseph Clapper.  

Ondek was hired as assistant superintendent in July 2006 after serving as Quaker Valley's high school principal from 2004 to 2006.

Prior to joining Quaker Valley, she served as an elementary principal at Northgate School District and as the director of special education, curriculum and staff development in the Fort Cherry School District.

In 2011, Ondek participated in the China Exchange Initiative, a program that builds relationships between educational leaders in the United States and China. She is also an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh.

Ondek serves on the advisory council for California University of Pennsylvania and the Community College of Allegheny County. She resides in Sewickley.
