The Quaker Valley School District and Sewickley Academy is cancelling school on Tuesday due to the Hurricane Sandy storm moving in from the East Coast.
Tina Vojtko, Quaker Valley District spokeswoman, said all Tuesday classes have been cancelled "due to adverse weather conditions and the potential for power outages."
After-school activities were cancelled Monday and Vojtko said all Tuesday activities are also canceled for the day and evening.
Sewickley Academy, St. James School, and Montessori Children's Community have announced closures for Tuesday as well.
Heavy winds and flooding are expected in the next 24 hours as the late-season Hurricane Sandy moves west from the eastern seaboard, according to the National Weather Service.
