Quaker Valley Girls' Tennis Defeats Sewickley Academy in WPIAL Team Tournament

The competition took place Friday at North Allegheny.

The Quaker Valley girls' tennis team defeated Sewickley Academy 3-2 on Friday to win the WPIAL Class AA team tournament.

QV girls now advance to the PIAA playoffs, which begin at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23 against Windber High School at North Allegheny.

The Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports QV got wins from No. 1 singles player and two-time WPIAL singles champion Spencer Caravaggio, No. 3 singles player Farrah Bojalad and the No. 2 doubles pairing of Connor Hamilton and Isabella Hubsch to clinch the title.

Sewickley got wins Friday from Sydney Miggantz at No. 2 singles and Amy Cheng and Riley Roberts at No. 1 doubles, the Post Gazette said.

This marked the ninth straight year that either Sewickley Academy or Quaker Valley has held the Class AA title, according to the Beaver County Times, and both teams advanced to the PIAA Tournament.
