Quaker Valley Hires Communications, Food Services Directors

 approved the hiring of two new administrators Tuesday night.

Tina Vojtko of Ross Township was hired as director of communications and development and Jennifer Reiser was hired as director of food services, both effective July 1.

Vojtko, who will be paid a salary of $65,000, is leaving behind her post as communications coordinator and open records officer in the .

Vojtko fills the vacancy of Martha Smith, communications director, who retired earlier this year after having worked for the district for 12 non-consecutive years since 1994. 

According to Quaker Valley officials, Vojtko has more than 11 years experience in public school communications and 10 years in nonprofit development.  Prior to joining the North Hills staff, she served as the director of annual giving for West Liberty State College in West Virginia and as the director of community relations for a children’s service agency in Wheeling, W.Va.

Reiser of Allison Park, who will be paid a salary of $62,000, has worked as an assistant food service director and nutrition educator in the North Allegheny School District.

Reiser fills the vacancy left by Betsy Klasnick, who also retired earlier this year after serving as food services manager in the district for 34 years.  

According to Quaker Valley officials, Reiser has seven years of school food service management experience. She currently serves as the regional nutrition educator and assistant director for Metz Culinary Management, which manages the food service operation within North Allegheny.

She is a graduate of Edinboro University of Pennsylvania with a bachelor’s degree in nutrition. In addition, she is a registered dietician and licensed nutritionist.

Retirements

As for retirements, the board accepted, with regrets, the retirement resignation of Dr. Christy Clapper as school counselor effective June 20. Clapper worked as a school counselor in the district for many years, starting out at and at the for 15 years.

“We are sorely going to miss her services to the district and we thank her for her service,” said School Director David Pusateri.

Other resignations approved included: 

• Amanda Hockenberry as special education paraprofessional, effective April 16. 
• William Youngblood as evening custodian, effective April 30
• Jeff Evancho, who will take a professional sabbatical for the first semester of 2012-13 school year.
