Quaker Valley Ready for School Days

Temporary moves are in place when kindergarten through eighth grade start on Monday.

Summer is coming to an end for students, and the start of the year will be more of an adjustment than usual for students in middle school and lower grades.

The middle school’s furnishings, equipment and supplies have been relocated to  (Grade 6), and Anthony Wayne School (Grades 7-8) in Ambridge, the two temporary locations for the school year, district spokeswoman Martha Smith said.

Quaker Valley faces a construction year with the  renovation, which began at the end of July following a seven-week delay.

Kindergarten teachers from Osborne have relocated their classrooms to  to create a "kindergarten center," which Smith said proved to be popular and effective during two years of elementary facility renovations.

All after-school activities and programs have been relocated throughout the district with the collaboration of community partners, including the , , and QVRA.

Freshman Orientation

The will conduct its Freshman Orientation Day on Monday with the upperclassmen joining on Tuesday.

Freshman Orientation Day helps ninth-grade students familiarize themselves with their new schedules, classes and teachers. Students learn about high school procedures and expectations and follow their daily schedule.

Smith said this schedule turned out to be a success when the school introduced it last year.
