QV Approves Wrestling Partnership with Moon

The agreement is now awaiting final approval from the Western Pennsylvania Inter-Athletic League.

Quaker Valley School Board approved a cooperative wrestling agreement Tuesday night that allows local students to compete together with the Moon Area School District.

The Moon School Board approved the same agreement last month. The program must now receive final approval from the WPIAL and PIAA.

School officials said the two-year agreement opens up the opportunity for Quaker Valley students in seventh through 12th grades to participate on the Moon Area Boys Wrestling team at no cost to the district.

Board member Gianni Floro told the board Tuesday night that there are a lot of families in the district with up-and-coming wrestlers who want to participate. He should know. Floro said his son signed up this year.

Wrestling is a winter sport, and students may be able to participate starting in November.

Superintendent Joseph Clapper said these partnerships will become more common as public schools continue to face budgetary challenges.

“We must continue to find creative solutions to meet the curricular and co-curricular needs of our students.”
