Quaker Valley Names Girls Varsity Lacrosse Coach

Nellie Kraus is a three-time NCAA All-American and All-Region Player and was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Allegheny College.

Quaker Valley has named a well-known community figure as the coach for the high school girls varsity team, according to Martha Smith, district spokeswoman.

The team's new head coach is Nellie Kraus.  

Smith said Kraus is known to some in the community as a district parent and known to many as a coach from her years of working with and teams.

“Her personal experience as an NCAA athlete combined with her education background and coaching experience make Ms. Kraus a great fit for this role on our staff," said Mike Mastroianni, director of athletics and actitathletics and Activities. 

Kraus is a three‐time NCAA All-American and All-Region Player and was inducted into the Hall of Fame at Allegheny College in 1999 for women's soccer.

"Kraus's coaching philosophy supports the belief that teamwork, individual goals, positive reinforcement and solid work ethic can be combined for the success in achieving a common team goal," according to a news release. 

Kraus and her husband, Ross, have four children. They reside in , where she is an avid community volunteer.
