Sewickley Academy is set to welcome Pittsburgh Pirates’ manager of diversity initiatives.
Chaz Kellem will visit the academy on Wednesday, Feb. 6, as part of the school’s diversity and inclusion programming.
Kellem will share his “Unbreakable Drive” presentation during separate assemblies with Lower School, and Middle and Senior School students in Rea Auditorium. Students will also have a chance to ask questions and participate in a discussion.
Kellem was diagnosed with a rare bone disorder at birth. Although he faced obstacles of his bone disorder--more than 40 broken bones and more than 12 operations--he graduated from Edinboro University with a degree in sports administration, coached for a wheelchair basketball team and played second base for Pittsburgh’s only wheelchair competitive softball team.
