Big Ben Gets Boys & Girls Club National Award at Sewickley Heights Golf Tourney

The Steelers Quarterback said receiving such an honor from an organization that helps so many young children was "awesome."

Pittsburgh Steelers Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is often recognized for the work he does on the field.

But the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Pennsylvania Monday evening recognized Roethlisberger for the work he does off the field.

At the organization's 36th annual golf classic at Sewickley Heights Golf Club, the group presented Roethlisberger with its "National Champion of Youth Award" for his commitment to youth and all the work he has done for them.

Roethlisberger is the only recipient from western Pennsylvania ever to be awarded the honor.

For the past four years, the organization said hundreds of inner-city children had a dream come true when they found themselves on a football field with "Big Ben."

Roethlisberger financed the cost of mini-camp experiences and took time to make each child feel special, the group said.
