American Red Cross to Offer Babysitter's Training

The certification course will take place at the Sewickley Valley YMCA.

Are you planning to make extra money this summer with babysitting gigs?

The American Red Cross is planning a "Babysitter's Training" at the Sewickley YMCA to provide youth who are planning to babysit with knowledge and skills to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants.

The training is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, June 15 and geared toward participants ages 11 to 15 years old.

The course will help children develop leadership skills; perform basic child care skills such as diapering and basic first aid care for common injuries and emergencies; learn how to develop a babysitting business and help children behave.

A currently authorized American Red Cross Babysitter’s training instructor will conduct the class. Students receieve a Babysitter's Training certificate at the end and take home materials.

Enroll online at www.sewickleyymca.org or call the YMCA 412-741-9622. The cost is $76.50 per person and space is limited.
