One of the biggest celebrations in our country is of course, Independence Day – better known as the Fourth of July. As you start to make your own plans for celebrating, here are a few activities around our area to get you started:
Leetsdale
Join the Sewickley-area Independence Day parade which begins at the Quaker Valley Shopping Center at 2 p.m. and traverses down Beaver and Broad Streets, ending at Henle Park. The Splash Pad will be open at the park from noon to 6 p.m. The concession stand will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. and the bands will perform from 3 to 9 p.m.
Pre-fireworks will be held from 9 to 9:45 p.m. at the field. Fireworks follow at 9:45 p.m.

Edgeworth
Children of all ages are invited to join in a decades-long tradition in Edgeworth begins at 10 a.m. in the parking lot of the .

The children’s bike parade, organized by borough residents, is a simple, patriotic get-together for the neighborhood kids who decorate their bikes and meet at the elementary school for a parade. Many children decorate their bikes. Children will be escorted by an and joined by local fire trucks through the neighborhood, where the children are greeted by neighbors. Parents bring snacks to share with the children afterward, and the young parade participants are biking back home by around 11 a.m.
Moon
Moon Township will host their July 4 celebration at .
The festival is headlined by country music artist Thomas Rhett, who recently topped Billboard country charts with his single "Something to Do with My Hands." Rhett takes the stage at Moon Park's amphitheater at 9 p.m.
Vendors will open for business and children's activities get underway at 4 p.m. It is free to attend and park at the event.
Dancers from will take to the stage at 6 p.m. The Stony River Boys perform at 7 p.m. and Sarah Marince, a Moon Township native and country music artist, begins her set at 8 p.m.
Zambelli fireworks will be featured after Rhett’s performance.
Zelienople Rotary Club July 4 Parade and Activities
The day kicks off at 11 a.m. with a parade on Main Street starts on Wednesday morning.
Festivities will follow at the Zelienople Community Park. The Phil Harmonic Orchestra will perform at 8:15 p.m. at the park.
Stay for fireworks which will begin just after dusk (usually around 10 p.m.).
Downtown Pittsburgh
The Pittsburgh Three Rivers Regatta celebrates the fourth with day-long activities and concludes with the Regatta Fireworks - "Flashes of Freedom" Fireworks Fantasia. Billed as “Pittsburgh's largest fireworks spectacular” and one of the top ten fireworks displays in the country, Pittsburgh’s Pyrotecnico produce this event for the whole family. Starting at 9:30 p.m.
