Penguin Bookshop Welcomes Steve Blass

Former Pirate Pitcher to sign new book.

Join as they welcome former Pirate pitcher and announcer, Steve Blass, for a book signing from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday July 7. 

Come to a hot dog party hosted by the Bookshop, and . Half Nych will provide hot dogs and Sharp Edge will provide beer to adults 21 and older.

Blass played for the Pirates from 1960 to 1974 including pitching in the 1971 World Series. Blass will be signing copies of his new book, “A Pirate for Life,” and discussing his career with the team during his visit.

The 2012 season will mark Steve Blass' 53rd year of involvement with the Pirates, having been associated with the club since signing his first professional contract on June 27, 1960. He ranks seventh on the club's all-time list in strikeouts (896) and 14th in wins.  

The book may be reserved in advance by calling 412-741-3838. Supplies are limited. Books will be sold that day, providing the supply allows.
