Miriam Rader, program committee member, said those who are differently-abled or whose knees have a hard time on the new concrete steps will be able to enter and exit the pool using an electric lift.

Rader said the safe, convenient and accessible entry was added to the pool this year, thanks to some generous donations, and brings the community center pool into top compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act, which requires swimming pools to follow stricter standards.

This is the first electric entry chair at a public outdoor pool in Quaker Valley, Rader said.

"It will make life easier for countless folks who have trouble getting into and out of pools," she said.

Rader said the addition of new pool furniture, including chaise lounges, will ensure plenty of seating to lounge on around the pool also thanks to a generous donation from a private local pool. Visitors can read a book or surf the 'net, with full Wi-Fi capabilities available to all members and pool-goers.

The community center board provides professional pool management and safety through Swim America, a local swimming pool management company which has provided service throughout the past several seasons.
