Staff and volunteers will visit shelters and animal control facilities in the Pittsburgh area today to rescue animals that are scheduled to be euthanized by year-end.
Animal Friends will continue a 15-year New Year's Eve tradition today, as staff members and volunteers travel around the area rescuing animals that otherwise would be euthanized by the end of the year.
The New Year's Eve Rescue involves transferring animals from animal control facilities and other shelters to the Animal Friends shelter in Ohio Township, where the animals will receive appropriate care.
Each rescued animal is vaccinated, bathed, groomed, evaluated medically and behaviorally, and spayed or neutered.
