Plans are already underway for next year's race.

"The third annual Fearless 5K will be held sometime in June of 2013. After we take a bit of time to enjoy the success of this year's race, we'll start planning next year's event so it can be even bigger and better," said Lancia.

Next year's date will be announced via the race's Facebook page.

Lancia said the race hopes to gain 501 (c) (3) non-profit status which will allow it to serve even more injured veterans.

"The feedback that we've gotten on the event has been nothing but positive. People love that this is a fun event that remembers an American hero and supports a great cause," Lancia said. "Many great things are on the horizon for the Fearless 5K, so stay tuned!"
