Volunteer Local: Sewickley Newcomers and Neighbors to Host Social with Non-Profits

A number of local non-profits will be on hand at the "Sewickley Serves Social" promoting their group and soliciting volunteers.

Anyone hoping to give back to a local non-profit is invited to meet several in one convenient location.

The Sewickley Newcomers & Neighbors is hosting the "Sewickley Serves Social" on from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18 in the Community Activity Center at the Sewickley Valley YMCA.

Kelsey Rhea, chairwoman of the event, said a number of local non-profits will be on hand promoting their group and soliciting volunteers.

"We felt this way people could pick where they wanted to volunteer based on where their passion is," Rhea said.

Featuring a dozen non-pofits, the event will have an open house format and the Newcomers & Neighbors club will provide wine and refreshments.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to be donated to the Coraopolis Food Bank as part of the YMCA's Good Deed of the Month initiative.

Newcomers & Neighbors is a social organization for women of all ages in the Sewickley area, and offers a wide variety of activities to help meet people and make new friends. For more information, visit www.sewickleynewcomers.com.
