Village Green Partners Presents 'Soup Crawl' Donation to YMCA, Community Center

Village Green Partners recently presented two checks to local non-profits thanks to funds raised during the annual Sewickley Soup Crawl.

On Thursday, the Sewickley-based organization presented a $500 check to staff and volunteers at the Sewickley Valley YMCA Oasis Teen Center.

Trish Hooper, CEO of the YMCA, said the Oasis runs throughout the year and is free and open to all middle and high school students, regardless of membership to the Y.

Sewickley Soup Crawl s an annual event organized by Village Green that allows participants to try a variety of homemade soups before declaring their favorite.

Proceeds will help the YMCA purchase healthy food for the kids who attend the teen center, which is funded through donations and gifts.

Hooper said the Oasis provides healthy meals and snacks for kids Monday through Thursday. Volunteers contribute by donating meals for roughly 25 children and are then reimbursed. Youth who attend the teen center can also participate in games and activities, and receive homework help.

Alex DeLoia, social media strategist with Village Green, said there was a great outpouring from this year's Soup Crawl.

Earlier this week, Village Green also donated $1,000 to the Sewickley Community Center's food pantry.
