5 Things to Know This Week

1. Primary Election

Tuesday, May 21 is Primary Election Day. The polls open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. Not sure where to vote? Click here to search for your polling place.

2. Route 65 Roadwork

PennDOT crews will begin a $6.3 million project to improve Route 65, or Ohio River Boulevard, starting on Monday, May 20. Beginning at 8 p.m., southbound traffic will be shifted to the northbound lanes of Route 65 from Camp Horne Road in Emsworth to Locust Street in Avalon.

3. Open House

The Samaritan Counseling Center invites the public to attend an open house reception from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday, May 20 at its new office suite in the Osborne Plaza. The wine and hors d’oeuvres event takes place at 1106 Ohio River Boulevard, Suite 602.

4. Art Show

Quaker Valley will host a district wide art show from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 20 at Edgeworth Elementary School. The annual event showcases a variety of artwork from kindergarten through high school.

5. Cancer Prevention Study

The American Cancer Society’s Epidemiology Research Program is inviting men and women between the ages of 30 and 65 years who have never personally been diagnosed with cancer to join the historic CPS-3 study.

Schedule an appointment to enroll now. After you schedule your appointment, you will receive a confirmation email with a link to a comprehensive survey of your family history, lifestyle, medications and other factors related to your health. Enrollment is from 3:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 22 in the large gym at the Sewickley Valley YMCA.
