5 Things to Know This Week

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

1. Annual Strawberry Festival

Enjoy some homemade strawberry shortcake with whipped cream, ice cream and lemonade served on the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church lawn, rain or shine. The Annual Strawberry Festival is at 5 p.m. Friday, June 21 and includes a supervised children's activity and other entertainment.

2. Sewickley Council Meets

Attend the regular Sewickley Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 17 in the council chambers at the municipal building. Council is expected to make a final vote on conditional use and land development plans for 202 Beaver St., also known as the "pink house." 

3. Quaker Valley Budget

The Quaker Valley School Board is scheduled to have a special legislative meeting  at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18 to approve the final 2013-14 school budget. The meeting will take place in the Edgeworth Elementary School large group room. 

4. Glen Osborne Council Meets

Glen Osborne Council tabled a decision on Thursday over whether to approve a proposed consent decree relating to the zoning appeal by the Quaker Valley School District and Northway Community Church to a borough zoning hearing board decision involving the use of Osborne Elementary School.

Council will revisit the matter when the board meets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 18 at the Sewickley Public Library.

5. Second Annual Rockin' at the Hollow

Tickets are on sale now for Fern Hollow Nature Center's second annual Rockin' at the Hollow music festival. Enjoy one day of peace, music, nature with a showcase of local talent in the Sewickley area. Festivities for the day include children activities, festival food and music.
