5 Things to Know This Week

Patch gives you a rundown of what's going on around the community.

1. Quaker Valley Graduation

Quaker Valley High School commencement exercises are 7 p.m. Monday, June 10 at Robert Morris University's Sewall Center. No tickets are required for entry.

2. School's Out

The last day of school for Quaker Valley students is Thursday, June 13, which is also an early dismissal.  Students at Sewickley Academy had their last day Wednesday, June 5 and St. James School on Friday, June 7.

3. Road Construction

PennDOT plans road work in the area from Monday, June 10 to Friday, June 14, weather permitting. Patching will take place on Big Sewickley Creek Road from Route 65 to Rochester Road; and in Aleppo Township from Merriman Road to Glenfield.

4. Summer Reading Kick Off

Summer reading for all ages starts Monday, June 10 at the Sewickley Public Library. Programs are available for all ages from birth to adult. Each program also offers prizes and programs. Learn more at http://is.gd/SewickleyReads

5. Nature Play Date

Join Fern Hollow Nature Center on Wednesday, June 12 for an afternoon of discovery, challenges, building and creative play at the Natural Outdoor Classroom located in the White Pine Forest. Spend as little or as long as you'd like. You can also bring a picnic lunch and enjoy some electronic free time with your little ones. Fern Hollow will have a small craft each week. Free.
