Get Out: Fall Music Festival, Clothesline Sale, Music Series

Clothesline and Used Book Sale

When/Where: 10 a.m. Thursday through Monday, at Sewickley Academy, 315 Academy Ave.

Admission: Free. 

Fall Music Festival

When/Where: 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at Fern Hollow Nature Center, Sewickley Heights. 

Why Go: Enjoy live entertainment, including open mic, Leap of Faith and the Honeyriders a climbing wall, scavenger hunt and more. Sewickley Confectionery, Schearer's Kettle Corn and QV's Lemonade Stand. 

Admission: $Members/$25 adults and $10 children 5-17 years old. Non-members are $35 adults and $20 children 5-17 years old. Children under 5 are free. Doors open at 2:30 p.m.

Music Series: String Fever

When/Where: 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 22 at St. James Church.

Why Go: The adult "Various Others Bluegrass Band" will join with the teenage "Fifth Avenue Strings" in a fusion of bluegrass, classical and original music, played both separately and together. A 20-minute pre-concert will be presented at 2:30 p.m. by local piano students of Donna Amato and Sharron Schaefer.

Admission: Free. A dessert reception will follow the concerts.. 

Banned Books Week

When/Where: 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 in the Sewickley Public Library.

Why Go: Celebrate in honor - or horror - of "Banned Books Week 2013" with music, dancing, video games, food and more. Act out a role in the Banned Books Readers' Theater; Save challenged books in the Banned Books Scavenger Hunt; Make a Banned Books Week keychain or necklace; Get caught reading banned books in the photobooth.  Grades 6-12, only. 

Admission: Free.  No registration required.

The Chaplain Project

When/Where: 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at Sweetwater Center for the Arts, 200 Broad St., Sewickley.

Why Go:  Join Pittsburgh pianist, arranger and composer Tom Roberts as he performs two new scores for the Charlie Chaplin masterpieces: One A.M. and The Rink.  

Admission: Free.
