October Festival at Mary Roberts Rinehart Nature Park

When/Where: 3 to 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at Mary Roberts Rinehart Nature Park, Glen Osborne.

Why Go: The public is invited to pumpkin painting, storytelling, s'more grilling by the firepit. The park is adjacent to the Osborne Elementary School.

Admission: Free. 

 

MOPS Kids Clothes and More Sale

When/Where: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11 and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 12 at Christ Church at Grove Farm, 249 Duff Road, Sewickley.

Why Go: Mothers of Preschoolers (MOPS) is hosting a Kids Clothes and More Sale that will include fall and winter clothes (infant to size 14), shoes, toys, books, games, sports equipment, children’s furniture, baby accessories and maternity items.  

Admission: Free.  

Dog Tales 

When/Where: 3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 13 at the Sewickley Public Library.

Why Go: Come by and snuggle with and read to certified Therapy Dogs. These dogs love to be petted and especially love to be read to by children. Picture books and reading books will be available. For ages 4-10, with an adult.

Admission: Free. Register for a 15 minute time slot.

 

Car Check 

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, the Coraopolis United Methodist Church, 1205 Ridge Ave., Coraopolis.

Why Go: The free car check service involves volunteers checking tire pressure, tire tread depth, oil levels, wiper fluid levels and lights. The church will also be hosting a Health Fair and a "Winter Clothes Swap" at the same time and location.

Build and Grow at Lowe's

When/Where: 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 12 at Lowe's in Robinson.

Why Go: Build a Spooky Stacker at Lowe's Build and Grow. After completing the project, kids get to take them home. All ages.

Admission: Free.  Registration available online.
