When/Where: 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 28 at Wolcott Park 

Why Go: Bring a chair and enjoy Chris Vipond and the Stanley Street Band perform "extremely funky roots rock." For more information on the band, visit www.chrisvipond.com.

Admission: Free.

Carnival at Henle Park

When/Where: 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, June 28 and noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 29 at Henle Park. 

Why Go: Get in the last days of the Deshler Amusements Carnival. Enjoy rides, games and carnival food and support the Leetsdale Fourth of July Committee. 

Admission: Tickets are $1 each or 20 for $18. On Saturday, June 29, receive a ride wrist band for $15. 

 

Free Electronics Recycling

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29 at Sewickley Public Library.

Why Go: Commonwealth Computer Recycling (C.C.R.) will be accepting consumer electronic materials in the library parking lot. Items they will accept and recycle for free include: computers, monitors, printers, cables/wires, strings of Christmas lights, cell phones, and most types of consumer electronics (CCR can no longer accept televisions.) 

Admission: Free. They will also be offering hard drive erasure and destruction on-site for a $10 fee per drive. For more information, contact John at C.C.R., 866-925-2354 . 

Venture Outdoors Hike & Eat Locally

When/Where: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 29 at Settlers Cabin Park, Robinson.

Why Go: Celebrate the seasonal fare of western Pennsylvania with a four-mile easy hike through Settlers Cabin Park. Learn the natural and social history of the area then enjoy a picnic afterward of homemade seasonal dishes incorporating locally grown foods.

Admission: $15 for members/ $20 for non-members.  Register online with Venture Outdoors.


Moon Township 5K Run and Walk

When/Where: 9 a.m. Saturday, June 29 in the GPOA parking lot of Cherrington Business Park.

Why Go: Now in its fifth year,  the community-oriented event includes music, prizes and refreshments. Visit www.moonparks.org for more information.

Admission: $20 entry fee.

Sunday Jam Session

When/Where: 1 p.m. Sunday, June 30 in the community room at the Sewickley Public Library. 

Why Go: Play an instrument?  Belong to a garage band, participate in your school's marching band or symphony? Join other teens at the library for a jam session. All styles welcome. No registration necessary.

Admission: Free.
