Not surprised. 20-somethings today have no conscience. Their priorities are just to have fun allRead More the time. And if something gets in their way, they'll find a way to remove it. Kill babies, parents, whoever. They don't need a reason either. This monster needs to be hanged.

What a shock!! I've just read a Korean killed his kid for the game. When I read this news, IRead More believe it's time to set some limitation. Should we force the game manufacturer to set the auto shut-off after a period? BTW, the other Christmas, my bro-in-law played non-stop grand theft. After a period he felt he had enough of pizza delivery and want to get some fresh. So, he went out. What do you know, he passed the car in front using the counter-lane! Fortunately, there was no passing car. He told us that his brain was probably still in the game mode. Anyone knows where we could start pushing the game limitation idea?

We need bomb-sniffing police dogs or military dogs. We also need to make the FBI accountable forRead More their failure to follow up on Russian warnings that Tamerlan Tsarnaeyev was being radicalized. The real jihadist in the family was the Tsarnaeyev's brothers' mother. The Russians knew that but didn't send the video proving it to the FBI. Even so, they told the FBI enough that they should have been on their trail, and the FBI blew it. And why weren't they on top of the former Grand Dragon of the Ku Klux Klan who shot to death three non-Jews in an anti-semitic attempt to kill Jews in Overland Park? Why do we allow so much surveillance of citizens when the results are so disappointing? It's not like the FBI is getting the job done. They miss a lot of really big, obvious targets.

So far the only complaint I've heard is about how terrible Reagan is. I really hate to tell you butRead More the so called War on Drugs, whether titled that or not, has been going on for a long time before Reagan or Nixon ever came into office. And the jackass party hasn't been behind in enforcing it either. Oh, Eric WithHolder claims he doesn't want to prosecute marijuana offenses - what the hell is the DEA doing here? And maybe you can tell me who has produced the drugs which, along with education about safe practices, has defeated or brought the AIDS problem under control? No, it's not the labor unions of America, Timothy Leary, or little old Madame Curie in her kitchen lab.

To clarify before someone jumps - the major drug control legislation did come about in 1970 as aRead More reaction to the widespread (both real and perceived) use and abuse of recreational drugs. Decaturette back in the days before collapsible steering shafts it was a bad idea to wear a seatbeltRead More because during a head on collision the steering shaft would act as a spear and run you through. I never wore a seat belt my old MGA or TR3. However, this is no longer a problem because of modern design and engineering. Some people will hem and haw about being t-boned at an intersection and the harm that a three point harness can do. I personally know many people who have had their lives saved by seat belts. I always wear mine. They should afford children the same opportunity to protect themselves. A 25 mile per hour head on collision with another vehicle travelling at 25 miles per hour is like a 50 mile per hour collision. So I do not buy the argument about shorter distances nor do I buy the article about lower driving speeds. What can is cost to have simple lap belts installed in a school bus? Are we that greedy?
Becky April 14, 2014 at 04:03 pm
I think the real reason they don't install them is that it would raise a whole other level ofRead More liability -- like that then they would have to keep the seatbelts in good working order, and maybe enforce that people wear them. Could I sue them because another passenger flew out of their seat and hit me. Etc, etc.

@Dan Cox - I agree with your posts. Particularly the last couple. We are just getting concealedRead More carry permits issued in Illinois, much to the distress of our unbeloved Mayor and Governor, and hopefully it will have an impact on reducing crime. The real problem is that the media hypes all of the nuts, like the shooters at Columbine, Newton, etc. and hide the proper use by those who have stopped crimes (or belittle them or try to claim about how these incidents are so rarer than deaths caused by the accidental use by children [e.g. Bloomberg's new commercials], etc.). The central thing in this story is the black nurse who ran out with her gun and stopped the beating and probably saved the motorist's life without regard to his race. Funny, you didn't notice that in the Patch article - you had to hunt around, a link by a poster on the first Patch story on this subject went to a non patch source).
