Terence “Terry” D. Brennan

Brennan was a teacher at Parkway West Technical Institute and a Quaker Valley High School graduate.

Terence “Terry” D. Brennan, age 64, a life-long resident of Sewickley, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 06, 2012 at Ohio Valley Hospital. He was born in Sewickley on April 29, 1948 to the late Michael and Margaret (Miller) Brennan. Beloved brother of Margaret Winters (David) of Washington, PA, Michael Brennan (Kay) of Canonsburg and Edward Brennan (Anne) of Ambridge; also numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Terry was a member of St. James Church. He was a teacher at Parkway West Technical Institute. Terry graduated from Quaker Valley High School in 1966, obtained his Bachelor's in education from Robert Morris University, and his Master's from University of Pittsburgh. Victor Slancauskas

Victor Slancauskas, age 90, a Robinson Township resident since 2000, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at Good Samaritan Hospice House. He was born in Zanesville, OH on Oct. 23, 1922 to the late William and Emilie (Novinsky) Slancauskas. Victor was a highly decorated U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II, participating in 13 of the 15 major battles. He was a member of the VFW Post Leetsdale, the American Legion Post 4 Sewickley, a lifetime member of Disabled American Veteran and former member of AARP. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 35 years, Helen (Stanchesky) Slancauskas. Charles “Chuck” Edward Musser, a 63-year resident of Sewickley Hills Borough passed away peacefully on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012 at his daughter's home surrounded by his loving family. He was 93. He was born in Braddock, PA on May 5, 1919 to the late Charles and Theresa (“Nanyoks” Niles) Bonser. He was preceded by death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Agnes (Clifford) Musser. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his son Wayne and his brother James. Robert "Rob" Karasek Jr.

Robert "Rob" Karasek Jr., 43, passed away suddenly Nov. 18, 2012 at his Sewickley residence. Born in Pittsburgh Nov. 4, 1969 to Robert and Lil Faytik Karasek Sr. of Sewickley, Rob was employed by Lane Steel and a 1987 graduate of Linsley High School in West Virginia. He was was also a proud member for 20 years with the Cochran Hose Fire Co. in Sewickley. Family of Mauling Victim Asks for Toy Construction Trucks for Charity

Trucks can be donated now at Slater Funeral Service in Scott Township OR at Maddox Derkosh's funeral Mass Friday at St. Bernard Church in Mt. Lebanon.

The Derkosh family of Whitehall Borough is asking that interested parties, in lieu of flowers, give toy construction trucks to be donated to a children's Christmas charity in the memory of 2-year old Maddox Derkosh, who died tragically at the Pittsburgh Zoo on Sunday. The trucks are being accepted now at William Slater II Funeral Service in Scott Township. They will also be accepted at Derkosh's funeral Mass at St. Bernard Church in Mt. Lebanon at 10 a.m. on Friday. Friends will be welcomed for a viewing of Maddox at Slater Funeral Service from 2 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, according to Maddox's obituary on the funeral service's website. Florence Iwler, 89, of Leetsdale passed away Saturday, Nov 3, 2012 in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born Aug. 4, 1923, in McKees Rocks, the daughter of the late of Louis and Sarah Tulip Libson. She was a retired assistant superintendant for Moon Area School District and a member of the Beth Samuel Jewish Center in Ambridge. Florence received her B.S., Master's, and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. She was an elected member of the Quaker Valley School Board, Leetsdale Council Member, a member of the Sewickley Public Library Board, and the Democratic National Committee. Tess Senay Raynovich, age 20, of Sewickley, died tragically on Sunday morning, October 28, 2012 in a car accident as she was driving to work. Tess was full of life and love, and she filled the world with art and beauty. George Gilchrist French, 75, of Glen Allen, VA, formerly of Sewickley, died Saturday, Oct. 20 in Richmond, VA. French was employed for more than 30 years in corporate and marketing communications capacities for Blue Cross of Western Pennsylvania, retiring in 1996 shortly after its merger with Pennsylvania Blue Shield to form Highmark Blue Cross Blue Shield. Previously, he worked as a reporter for The Homestead Messenger and The Pittsburg Press. French graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 1960 and was active in local Penn State alumni affairs, serving as president of The Penn State Club of Allegheny County in 1975. Edward Payson Hawes, born April 13, 1921, died October 15, 2012, of heart failure. He graduated from Moon High School in 1939, and attended the University of Pittsburgh for three years, served honorably as a Master Sgt. in the Signal Corps in Oahu, HA, for four years, graduated from Westminster College with a BA degree in 1947 majoring in math and psychology. He received a National Science Foundation Grant to attend Boston College and earned 24 extra credits in mathematics. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in 1956 with a Master of Education degree. Chuck is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Mildred Erna Hannigan and his loving family, daughter Kathleen Ann Hannigan, Grandsons Wayne Charles and Mack Edwards Hannigan, Granddaughter Lacy Briar Hannigan and her Fiance Greg Gerstner.
