The early morning fire displaced a local family.
A local family is displaced today following an early morning fire at their Glen Osborne home. Cochran Hose Fire Co. Lt. Shayne Quinn said the Allegheny County Fire Marshal's office is still investigating what exactly caused the fire at 1524 Railroad Ave. Firefighters from Cochran Hose along with the Leetsdale and Emsworth fire departments responded shortly after 4 a.m. and emergency officials were able to quickly douse the flames before they could spread. Quinn said the fire that originated in a first-floor fireplace caused minimal damage to the two-story home. He said utilities were shut off to the house as requested by the fire marshal. The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is investigating an early morning fire on Farren Street.
Fire officials are investigating a possible arson in Sewickley following an early Sunday blaze at a vacant two-story house. Cochran Hose Co. Fire Chief Jeff Neff said the fire at 874 Farren St. is a total loss and the cause looks suspicious. “It’s undetermined, but it looks like somebody lighted a house on fire,” he said. The home off Dickson Road was fully engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived about 3:30 a.m. Sunday. He said the fire appeared to have started in the left front corner of the home. Neff said a tenant moved out a month or so ago, so no one was living in the home. He was unable to immediately identify the new owner. The Allegheny County Fire Marshal is now investigating.
Several area fire departments responded early this morning for a structure fire at Marino's Italian Kitchen in Sewickley. Cochran Hose Co. Fire Chief Jeff Neff said when firefighters arrived at 616 Beaver St., the flames were showing from the back of the restaurant on Beaver Street. Neff said firefighters were able to keep the fire contained to a storage refrigerator and office area to the side of the kitchen. Neff said the building suffered smoke damage throughout and structural damage in the storage area, but the fire was brought under control by about 5 a.m. and didn’t reach the dining area. “The guys did a good job,” Neff said. Firefighters were initially called at 3:30 a.m. for a report of heavy smoke in the area, Neff said. …
