The nonprofit, which sells high-end labels at its boutique, partners with Animal Friends, The Western Pennsylvania Humane Society and other organizations to help end pet homelessness.
It was from her deep passion—and deep concern—for homeless animals in the area that Nancy Lee founded WearWoof Inc., a non-profit that saves pets—with fashion. “I love animals and just wanted to do something,” said Ben Avon Heights resident Lee, executive director of WearWoof. “I’m not the person who should be fostering or going to work at the shelter because I get too emotionally involved, but this is definitely something I can do without crying myself to sleep every night.” WearWoof Inc. is a North Hills-based animal welfare organization that is using second-hand fashion to end pet homelessness through its support of the many local shelters and rescues in the region. The WearWoof Shop in Ross officially opened for business Thursday at …

Kathryn Richardson opened Rosewood in Sewickley last year. The Sewickley store has been doing well, and she’s now working to build her South Hills location.
A Sewickley boutique owner has expanded her unique clothing boutique to a second location in her hometown. Kathryn Richardson, who grew up in Mt. Lebanon, opened Rosewood in Sewickley in March 2011, and opened her second location on Washington Road in her hometown last August. Richardson said she settled on the Mt. Lebanon storefront because the location is a “happy medium” between several communities—including Dormont, Brookline, Scott Township and Upper St. Clair—which are home to many young professionals, her target demographic. “We opened a boutique in Sewickley in 2011, and after being there for a year and a half we saw that this is something Pittsburgh doesn’t have a lot of, especially in the suburbs,” Richardson said. There are …

Open since 1995, retiring owners of the Sewickley boutique plan to close shop Friday.
At the end of September the doors to a Sewickley staple will be closing for good. While lovely crops of new shops are popping up everywhere, it is always sad to see an old favorite go. At the same time it is a happy new beginning for the storeowners. The ladies at Bailey & Bailey are moving into retirement and getting to begin a whole new chapter of their lives. For 16 years, owners Elsa Cabiya and Holly Miller have cultivated the perfect blend of sure-to-be favorites all in one spot. One could always find designer denim, the perfect pant, charming accessories, literally everything from a basic tee to evening wear. Swoon-worthy names graced every space in the shop. The trademark fashion drawings that graced their ads, invitations and store…

Threadz will have its official grand opening at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Sewickley boutique sells women's clothing, shoes and accessories.
Rhonda McFarland is not new to retail. She has logged 12 years in the industry, the last of which was spent at Bailey & Bailey. With Bailey & Bailey moving into retirement, McFarland decided to move in a new direction and is opening the new boutique Threadz. At 11 a.m. Saturday, Mayor Brian Jeffe will cut yet another ribbon, officially opening the new store in the Village. With a great sense of what kind of style she likes, McFarland has carefully selected a great array of women's clothing, shoes and accessories. A sneak peek inside the store before the official opening revealed a cozy decor and artful arrangement of basics everywhere the eye could see. The palate is mostly neutral. Gray, white and black blouses, dresses and statement …

Open since 1995, the store selling the newest trends in upscale designer collections plans to close.
While I have never had the disposable income to shop regularly at Sewickley’s women’s clothing boutique, Bailey & Bailey, I have visited the store countless times over the years. Whether I’m simply browsing, rummaging through the sale rack or shopping for a special occasion, it’s rare to leave the shop without coveting several clothing items. Because Pittsburgh has often been behind the curve when it comes to high-end fashion, it’s a treat to be able to at least look at beautiful clothes, even when I can’t necessarily afford them. Bailey & Bailey owners Holly Miller and Elsa Cabiya have giving shoppers access to designer brands that no other Pittsburgh stores sell, and they've kept customers coming back for 20 years. Over the years, …

I also will miss Bailey and Bailey! I too rarely was able to afford to purchase many of the things I coveted. Since it opened I would save up and splurge on occasion. I still have my first purchase/splurge item, the woven bag I bought one summer in high school (nearly 17 years ago now) with my piggy bank money. Best wishes to the owners and thank you for being so funky and chic all these years. …   more ›
