The woman behind the wheel of the car complained of chest pains following the accident and was taken to the hospital.
A woman was transported to Heritage Valley Sewickley hospital this morning after police said her car accelerated over a curb and crashed into a building used for storage at Shafer's Flower Shop in Sewickley. Sewickley Police Patrolman Kenneth Wolf said the woman told them she thought she had her car in reverse while attempting to park around 9 a.m. in the borough’s Green Street parking lot. Police said one driver was unable to get out of her car after the crash.
A McKees Rocks woman was taken to the hospital Tuesday morning after a two-car crash on Route 65 that left her trapped inside her vehicle. Sewickley police reported that Marguerite Bailey was stopped at 9:30 a.m. on McKown Street in Glen Osborne, near the Critmore building, when she attempted to turn left toward Pittsburgh. Her car pulled into the path of Richelle Barrett's northbound car before the two collided. Police said Barrett of Pittsburgh hit the brakes right before the impact. "If (Barrett) had been going any faster, it would have killed (Bailey)," said Sewickley police Patrolman Frank Lesniak. Bailey had to be rescued from her vehicle and was transported to Heritage Valley Sewickley for an evaluation, police said. Her injuries…

Recognizing the church's salute to first responders, Thursday was also declared Triumph Baptist Church Appreciation Day.
The Rev. Robert Johnson, a former investigator, police and security officer, said he understands the close bond firefighters and police officers share. He can also attest to the tragedies of life they often encounter together. “One thing I can attest to is that, as first responders, you’re exposed to the most disgusting, foul, putrid, negative side of life everyday,” said Johnson, who retired six days ago after 35 years in the public safety field. Johnson offered words of wisdom as part of a salute Thursday at Triumph Baptist Church to Sewickley's police and firefighters. The senior ministry at the church recognized the first responders for their "dedicated, unselfish and commendable public service." “The rest of us live in the same …
