More than 1,600 exhibitors are expected at the 32nd annual show.
Sewickley-area vendors are among the more than 1,600 landscape and home-improvement exhibitors expected to participate in this year's Pittsburgh Home & Garden Show. The 32nd annual event begins on Friday, March 1 and runs through Sunday, March 10 at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center. This year, the show will include a Union Army encampment inside the Convention Center and a synthetic ice rink for children. Handmade Arcade is Saturday, Dec. 8 in Pittsburgh, and area artists are featured.
Pittsburgh's first and largest independent art and craft fair returns today, Dec. 8, to the David L. Lawrence Convention Center in Pittsburgh. The fair, now in its ninth year, will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. and will feature more than 150 vendors from the Pittsburgh region—including the North Hills—and from around the country. Local professionals, including one former Moon resident, will attend this year's Pittsburgh-based One Young World summit.
The Robinson Township-based Bayer Corp. will sponsor ten employees as delegates at this year's One Young World summit in Pittsburgh. The One Young World nonprofit hosts its annual gathering of Millennials from Oct. 18 to Oct. 22 in the city. Former President Bill Clinton will serve as the event's keynote speaker on Thursday. More than 1,200 young professionals and leaders, age 18 to 30, from across the world will gather to discuss global issues, ranging from human rights to sustainable development. The attendees will then spearhead projects in their home cities, focused on realizing goals discussed during the event. Local 85 of the Amalgamated Transit Union ratified a four-year contract with a wage freeze in an effort to prevent layoffs and service cuts—including some in the Sewickley area.
Tentative transit service cuts and layoffs could be prevented due to the union's agreement to a new four-year contract with a wage freeze and other concessions. According to the Pittsburgh Post Gazette, Local 85 of the Amalgamated Transit Union voted in favor of the contract—retroactive to July 1, it calls for two years of wage freezes and increases of workers' contributions to the pension fund—in two voting sessions at the David L.
