Presidents Day, a federal holiday, is today, Feb. 18. Schools are closed, along with the library and the post office. Youth Connect is hosting a wellness workshop from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the Sewickley Valley YMCA. The Second Time Around: Grandparents Raising Grandkids discusses the rewards and challenges families face when grandparents raise their grandchildren. Bring Bourbon Street to Locust Place. According to Explore Sewickley, Sidelines Beer House is planning a Fat Tuesday celebration on Feb. 12 that includes New Orleans-style food and Abita brewskies on special. Tickets are on sale for the inaugural Sewickley Chocolate Walk, which runs from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 13.  Included on the walk are 15 participating businesses. Tickets are available for $5 at ShowClix.com. Walkers registering at Wolcott Park will receive a map detailing the stops. Participants can turn in their signed maps at the end to be entered into a randomly drawn raffle Paczki Day kicks off from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12 at Good Samaritan Parish at Eighth and Melrose Avenue in Ambridge. 5 Things to Know This Week: Woodworking Exhibit, Burns Supper and an Open House

Michael Falcone, a sophomore at Quaker Valley High School, likes to spend his free time in the cabinet shop at Old Economy Village in Ambridge, trying to re-envision the ways of the Harmonist carpenters, joiners, cabinet makers, and other woodworkers by researching their tools. Michael will put on "A Plane Old Exhibit" highlighting these woodworkers through an array of their planes. An opening reception is planned from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25 at the Visitor Center, 270 16th St. All are invited to attend The exhibit will be on display through April.  Youth Connect, in partnership with Sewickley Academy and QV Voice, presents "Teen Talk," a panel discussion for parents and other caregivers.
