Nearby: Oklahoma Man Paid to Forge Doctor Signatures for Pills

Police said a man flew to the Moon Township area to obtain painkillers with fake prescriptions.

An Oklahoma man obtained more than 800 prescribed painkiller pills after a scheme to forge prescriptions from Pittsburgh-area physicians, Moon Township Police said. Rolfe Jensen, 40, of Broken Arrow, OK, faces a preliminary hearing Dec. 18 in Coraopolis District Court on charges he was paid to pass fake prescriptions at area pharmacies, including one in Moon Township, to obtain the drug Lortab. A hearing on Tuesday was postponed. Police said Jensen flew from Oklahoma to the Moon area for the operation.  On Sept. 8, police received a complaint from pharmacists at Super Kmart in Moon Township, claiming a man named Terrance Walker attempted to pass a fraudulent prescription for the painkilling drug, said Officer Jonathan Fry in a complaint.  …

Update: Sewickley Scam Suspect a No Show in Court

A Beaver County woman accused of scamming Sewickley businesses failed to appear for a court hearing Tuesday. She is facing additional charges in a separate case, again accused of fraudulently requesting a refund.

An Aliquippa woman accused of swindling Sewickley businesses out of cash was recently charged with fraud again after she tricked Robinson Township hotel employees into issuing her a cash refund on a hotel room, according to reports.  Sharon Lepore, 40, was scheduled to appear in court today, but didn't show up for a hearing in Leetsdale District Court. She is accused of scamming three Sewickley businesses to get fast money. In each case, Sewickley police said Lepore took an item off a store shelf, pretended she was overcharged for it and demanded a refund without producing a receipt. She is charged with three counts each of theft and receiving stolen property, two counts of criminal attempt and one count of conspiracy. Accused accomplice …

Man Charged with Heroin and Crack Possession

A Cranberry Township man accused of possessing heroin and crack cocaine will stand trial. Allen Victor, 26, of Cranberry, waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday on charges of possession of heroin, possession of crack-cocaine and possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia. Franklin Park police reported that officers on March 27 saw Victor's car on the Interstate 79 off ramp and checked his vehicle registration, which came back as being involved in several incidents. Police stopped Victor's car and found he had two active warrants for his arrest. During a search, police said officers also found five stamp bags of heroin, two syringes, and a small piece of crack-cocaine that was concealed in a folded piece of paper. The …

Pittsburgh Woman Accused of Defrauding Insurance Company, Heritage Valley Sewickley and Others

A Pittsburgh woman is charged with fraud accused of bilking various hospitals, including Heritage Valley Sewickley, out of about $88,000 in fraudulent insurance claims. Lisa Stoberski, 44, failed to appear for court last week before District Judge Robert Ford in Leetsdale. Charges of insurance fraud, theft by deception and identity theft have been held for court. Allegheny County police detectives reported that on Feb. 21 the state Attorney General’s office requested assistance investigating a theft involving Stoberski. Police interviewed Stoberski’s ex-husband, Douglas Stoberski, and learned over the past two years, she’d been using his social security number to file false health insurance claims to get medical treatment. The U.S. Attorney's office in Pittsburgh has set up a telephone hotline for citizens who wish to report suspected corruption in public education districts and entities. Potential abuses include misuse of federal funds, spending irregularities, corruption in contract or bidding processes, theft or embezzlement of district funds and bribery, kickbacks or other forms of collusion with outside vendors, U.S. Attorney David J.Hickton said.
