The National Weather Service in Moon Township has issued a winter weather advisory for the Pittsburgh region from 11 p.m. Sunday until 2 p.m. Monday. A period of snow and freezing rain is expected overnight Sunday, before changing to all rain by Monday afternoon. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for most of Friday.
Expect freezing rain and ice accumulations of about a 10th of an inch Friday. That's the word from the National Weather Service in Moon, which issued a winter weather advisory that will be in effect from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday. The freezing rain is expected to begin between 6 and 8 a.m. and end between 1 and 3 p.m. The National Weather Service warns of hazardous travel conditions because of ice-covered roads. The freezing rain could mix with sleet and snow before changing to all rain later in the day.
There could be very little rush to the Monday morning rush hour. The National Weather Service in Moon Township has issued a winter weather advisory from 1 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday for most of Western Pennsylvania, including the Sewickley Valley. A mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain is expected overnight into Monday morning. Because of very cold ground and snow pack, roads and sidewalks are expected to be icy. Morning commuters should allow extra travel time for slick conditions. The National Weather Service advisory remains in effect through late morning.
Just when you thought all the snow had melted, along comes another winter weather advisory. The National Weather Service said the advisory is in effect from until 10 a.m. Wednesday for Allegheny, Butler, Beaver and surrounding areas. Forecasters are calling for a chance of sleet between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch is possible, according to the weather service website. Snow, sleet or ice will make travel hazardous or impossible Wednesday as a winter storm warning remains in effect for Western Pennsylvania as well as parts of Ohio, West Virginia and Maryland, according to the National Weather Service. The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning beginning at 7 p.m. Friday evening until 1 p.m. Saturday afternoon for Allegheny County. A winter storm warning means that snow, sleet or ice will make travel hazardous or impossible. The warning is in effect for counties along the Interstate 70 corridor due to forecast predictions for a wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet and snow on Friday night, the weather service said. Freezing rain this evening could result in an accumulation of up to one-tenth inch of ice, according to the National Weather Service. A winter weather advisory -- which means snow, sleet or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties -- remains in effect until 1 a.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service stated. It warns motorists to be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibility. Motorists can also expect areas of dense fog through this evening as moist air and light winds combine with temperatures that are near or above freezing over snow-covered ground, according to NWS. Windy conditions are expected to develop Wednesday afternoon and evening with 1 to 2 inches of snow possible, the weather service stated.

Motorists and pedestrians are warned to look out for icy conditions.
A wintry mix of rain, freezing rain and sleet is expected this morning as temperatures hover around the freezing mark, the National Weather Service warns in a special weather statement. The freezing rain and sleet are expected to diminish by this afternoon, according to the weather service. "Any untreated surface could be icy, so motorists and pedestrians should take caution while traveling," the statement said.
