Esmark Ratifies Labor Contract With United Steelworkers of America Local 1223 Members

The four-year contract agreement is an important milestone in Esmark's ongoing efforts to restart operations at Ohio Cold Rolling Company.

Esmark Inc. and its wholly owned steel services subsidiary, Esmark Steel Group, ratified an agreement with its labor union. Esmark, based in Sewickley, recently announced that members of the United Steelworkers of America (USW) Local 1223 accepted and ratified a new four-year collective bargaining agreement with Esmark’s newly acquired Ohio Cold Rolling Company. According to Esmark, 81 percent of eligible union members voted to accept and ratify the labor agreement, which was applauded by James P. Esmark CEO Spearheads Effort to Relocate Hockey Team to 'Slap Shot' Town

James Bouchard, chairman of Esmark, is leading a group of investors to bring a minor league hockey team from Alaska to Johnstown.

Esmark CEO James Bouchard is leading the charge on a deal to bring an Alaskan minor league hockey team to the Western Pennsylvania city that inspired the cult movie hit Slap Shot, according to the Associated Press. Bouchard, chief executive and chairman of Sewickley-based Esmark Inc., is heading the deal that would relocate the North American Hockey League's Alaska Avalanche to Johnstown, about 60 miles east of Pittsburgh. Bouchard's group of investors, Johnstown Sports Partners LLC, are scheduled to announce the deal later today at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena, where the junior league franchise team will play, the AP reports. Esmark Awards Seven Helen Bouchard Scholars

This year’s scholars include four children from the Meadville/Conneaut Lake area whose parents are employed by Meadville, Pennsylvania-based Excalibur Machine Co.

Sewickley-based Esmark, Inc. has announced the recipients of the 2011-2012 Helen Bouchard Esmark Scholars, totaling $15,000 in awards. The Esmark Scholars program is named in honor of Helen Bouchard, the mother of James P. Bouchard, Esmark, Inc. founder, chairman and chief executive officer. “My mother and late father provided tremendous educational opportunities to me and my brothers and sisters, and instilled in us the value of life-long learning,” Bouchard said in a news release. “The goal of the Esmark Scholars program is to provide those same educational opportunities for the children of our employees and give them the financial support to follow their career dreams.
