Open Secrets has published a list of recipients of National Rifle Association campaign contributions that also includes outgoing U.S. Reps. Mark Critz of Johnstown and Jason Altmire of McCandless, both Democrats.
U.S. Reps Tom Murphy (R-Upper St. Clair), Mark Critz (D-Johnstown), Jason Altmire (D-McCandless) and Mike Kelly (R-Butler) of Pennsylvania accepted thousands in 2012 campaign contributions from the National Rifle Association, according to the Center for Responsive Politics. The NRA doled out more than $750,000 in campaign contributions in 2012, according to the center, a research organization that tracks money in politics and how it affects elections and policies and shares the information on OpenSecrets.org. The center obtained its data from the Federal Election Commission. Rep. Jason Altmire, D-McCandless, has accepted a position with Florida Blue, the state's Blue Cross and Blue Shield health insurer, as a senior vice president for public policy, government, and community affairs. Altmire, a three-term congressman, has been looking for a job since losing the primary to fellow Democrat, Rep. Mark Critz, D-Johnstown , when their two districts were reshaped into one by a GOP redistricting map. Critz lost the general election to Republican Keith Rothfus. Construction will soon be under way on a military commissary on University Boulevard, marking the end of a six-year battle to bring the facility to Moon Township.

Members of Pennsylvania's Congressional delegation and military officials from across the region earlier today attended the ground-breaking ceremony for the long-awaited Moon Township military commissary. The 43,000 square-foot facility, set to open in the fall of 2013, will house a grocery story for more than 170,000 military members and their families in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia. House voted Wednesday to repeal the federal health care overhaul.
U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire, D-4th District, released a statement today (Wednesday) explaining why he opposes repealing the 2010 health care reform law. House lawmakers voted Wednesday to repeal the federal health care overhaul—the latest in a long line of anti-ObamaCare votes, but the first vote since the Supreme Court upheld the law, according to Fox News. Incumbent Jason Altmire concedes after Critz captures the seat in Tuesday's Democratic primary.
Incumbent Rep. Mark Critz has won the Democratic nomination in a close primary that pitted him against incumbent Rep. Jason Altmire for the new 12th Legislative District, according to unofficial results. Altmire, 44, of McCandless, whose 4th District includes Sewickley, and Critz, 50, of Johnstown, Cambria County, were locked in a tight race to the finish for the chance to represent much of Western Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives. Public is invited to April 18 workshop.
The Internet can be very useful and informative, but safety and precaution are necessary—especially when it comes to knowing to whom you're talking and what information is shared online. The Office of U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire and Plum Borough School District will conduct an Internet Safety Workshop at 7 p.m. April 18. The workshop, which is open to the public, will take place in the Oblock Junior High School Auditorium, 440 Presque Isle Drive in Plum. U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire on Tuesday released his first two television commercials, titled “A lot” and “Ethic,” as part of his campaign to win the Democratic nomination for the 12th District. Incumbents Altmire, D-McCandless, and Rep. Mark Critz, (D-12) of Johnstown will face off in the April 24 primary for the nomination leading up to the 2012 general election. Sewickley is currently in the 4th Legislative District and is represented by Rep. Altmire. Redistricting put Altmire and Critz into one newly created district.

U.S. Rep. Jason Altmire is meeting with constituents in Western Pennsylvania through a series of town hall meetings. The latest of the three meetings will take place at 11 a.m. Friday in North Hills. The AARP is sponsoring the town halls along with Altmire, D-McCandless. Earlier this week on Tuesday, Altmire appeared at the Beaver Valley Senior Center in the Beaver Valley Mall and on Thursday he was joined by U.S. Rep Tim Murphy, R-Upper St. Clair, at Longwood at Oakmont in Verona, PA.
