Cases against Matthew McDonald, Travis Hallam and David Piatt advance to Allegheny County Common Pleas Court.
Cases against three men charged in the November robbery of the BP convenience store and gas station in Wexford advanced Wednesday to the Allegheny County Common Pleas Court. Following a preliminary hearing, Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner ordered Matthew McDonald, who is charged with being the gunman during the holdup, to stand trial. Co-defendants Travis Hallam, 19, and David Piatt, 21, waived their cases. Both Washington, PA, men are charged with criminal conspiracy. McDonald is charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy and theft. The BP is located along Route 910 in Marshall Township in the T-Bones shopping plaza near the I-79 interchange. Two Washington County men charged in the robbery of a BP in Wexford were arraigned by live streaming over the Internet Thursday morning and bail was set at $50,000 each. Matthew McDonald, 19, and Charles Edward Clark, 21, appeared separately via webcam from the Washington County Jail before Magisterial District Judge William K. Wagner, whose courtroom is in McCandless. Wagner asked both men if they had received a written criminal complaint stating the charges against them, to which they answered yes. Warrants have been issued for three co-conspirators; the four are believed to be responsible for robberies in Washington, PA; Chartiers Township; Upper St. Clair and Castle Shannon, according to police chief.
Updated at 2:20 p.m. with information from Upper St. Clair Patch (see paragraph at end) A 19-year-old Washington area man has been arrested and charged with the Nov. 13 armed robbery of a BP station in Wexford, and warrants have been issued for three co-conspirators, according to Northern Regional Police Chief T. Robert Amann. "These individuals are also involved in robberies in Washington, Chartiers Township, Upper St. Clair and Castle Shannon," Amann said. Matthew McDonald was arrested Nov. 21 in Chartiers Township and charged with robbery, criminal conspiracy and theft in the BP case, the chief said.
