Police Blotter: Police Respond to Road Rage Complaint on Route 65

The victim told police the other driver pulled over behind him and appeared to pull out a gun.

Police were called Monday to take a road rage report on Route 65 near the Interstate 79 interchange. Police met with a driver who said another vehicle had been driving erratically and swerving in front of him multiple times starting from the Aliquippa Bridge. He said the car also began jamming on the brakes going from 20 mph to 40 mph. As they approached the I-79 interchange, police said the victim pulled off the road and the other vehicle pulled off behind him. The victim watched as the other driver began reaching into his glove box, then his groin area as if he was going to pull out a gun. Sewickley Police Cite Driver With Route 65 Construction Zone Violations

Sewickley Police said the man nearly struck a flagger.

Sewickley police cited a Pittsburgh man Saturday after police said his car sped past a flag woman on Route 65 in the area of the Sewickley Bridge construction. Joshua Andrews, 19 of Pittsburgh, was cited with failing to obey a person directing traffic and reckless driving.  Police said the flagger signaled for Andrews to stop his vehicle, but he continued southbound on Route 65 and almost struck her as he flew past. Police located his vehicle in Edgeworth on Shields Avenue and Beaver Street. Fines were doubled due to the offenses being committed in an active construction zone. Police Blotter: Police Receive Suspicious Backpack Report in Sewickley

Each incident reflects police records and is not an indication of guilt.    Suspicious backpack Police said received a report at 10:43 a.m. Wednesday concerning a backpack outside Clearview Federal Credit Union on top of an electrical box. A policeman located the bag and found it to be empty, police said. Vandalism report Someone used blue spray paint to vandalize the right side of a vehicle sometime Monday night in the 300 block of Ohio River Boulevard, police said. Dogs in distress Police received a report at 9:15 a.m. Monday from a caller concerned that there were three to four dogs in distress at a home in the 400 block of Little Street. Sewickley Police Handle Raccoon Complaints

If you see an animal behaving in a way that causes suspicion and concern, call 911.

Sewickley police recently dealt with separate complaints of raccoons in the borough. Police were called shortly before 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6 to a home in the 200 block of Grant Street after the homeowner reported finding three raccoons in the attic. Police said Bill Kammerer informed police he had just purchased the home. Police advised Kammerer of someone to assist with the raccoons. Police also responded shortly before 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 4 to the Design Group building in the 400 block of Beaver Street for a report of a sick raccoon that entered the building. An employee told police the raccoon was inside near the back door and an officer approached the animal with a pet pole, but was unable to catch the raccoon. Police said the …

Sewickley Police Charge Driver in Hit and Run

Police said the 72-year-old driver left the scene of an accident.

A 72-year-old Pittsburgh woman has been cited with leaving the scene of an accident after police said she hit another car in the parking garage at Heritage Valley Sewickley hospital and failed to report the accident. Police said a witness watched Aug. 22 as Marilyn Simon parked next to a car belonging to Monique Genzler of Ambridge and caused damage to the entire side of Genzler’s vehicle. Police said a witness also took down Simon’s license plate. Genzler told police she wanted to press charges. Police said contacted Simon was contacted and agreed to come to the police station. Police Blotter: Thefts, Chickens and a Suspicious Person

Sewickley Police responded to the following recent incidents. Each incident reflects police records and is not an indication of guilt.

Theft reports Sewickley Police are investigating a report of several thefts overnight Aug. 2 at the Sewickley Valley YMCA.  Police said the YMCA experienced thefts in June, July and August. On June 9 an iPod was stolen from a cabinet in the Wellness Center; on July 26, someone stole a Wii video game from an office; on July 30 Teen Center staff discovered an Xbox 360 had been stolen; and on July 30 a laptop was stolen off someone's desk. Police said the thefts seem to be occurring overnight.  Police were called July 24 to the Sewickley Sporting Goods store for a theft report. Police said $150 was missing from the cash register. Police Blotter: Raccoons, a Car Crash and Criminal Mischief

Sewickley Police responded to the following recent incidents.

A Moon Township man was taken to Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital for an evaluation following a two-car crash on Blackburn Road. Witnesses told police that Joseph Kilzer of Moon triggered the July 19 crash in the 600 block of Blackburn Road. As Laura Pangburn of Sewickley Heights attempted to turn her vehicle into the YMCA parking lot, police said Kilzer's vehicle struck her car from behind. His vehicle then proceeded to hit her car two more times as he tried to stop, police said.   Sewickley Police also responded to the following recent incidents. Leetsdale Police Blotter: Burglaries, Thefts and Vandalism

A Sewickley couple is charged with burglarizing two Beaver Street homes and stealing more than $4,000 in cash and jewelry, Leetsdale police reported. Leetsdale police charged Andrew Scott, 29, and his wife Kaitlin Moore, 27, both of Chestnut Street, with burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, receiving stolen property and theft.   On July 6, police were called to respond to the 200 block of Beaver Street in Leetsdale for a report of a burglary that occurred a day earlier. Police said someone pushed the back window open and cut weather-resistant plastic to get inside the house. Several items were thrown from the kitchen counter and the window blind was ripped from its holder. Upstairs, police found several dressers drawers had been rifled…

An Ambridge man was Tasered recently after police said he acted in a threatening manner and disobeyed an officer’s commands. According to a police report, Sewickley police Patrolman James Grill was on patrol at 1:40 a.m. July 2 when he went down to the Chestnut Street boat ramp and saw four males around the bench at the bottom of the launch. Police said one of the males immediately fled down the shoreline causing the officer to believe criminal activity might be involved. Police said the officer got out of his car and gave several commands for everyone to remain where they were. Two of the males obeyed, but police said a third male, later identified as Benjamin Thornton, 23, began to make “slow deliberate” movements toward Grill and …
