Police said the Crafton man is awaiting arraignment in Allegheny County Jail.
UPDATE: Allegheny County Police have identified the suspect involved in an early morning police chase that started Tuesday on Route 65 in Avalon. Police said Jonathan Schaeffer, 23, of Crafton, has been charged with firearms violations, fleeing police, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and careless driving. Schaeffer is currently in the Allegheny County Jail awaiting arraignment. According to Allegheny County Police, at about 3:40 a.m., the Avalon police department was dispatched to the BP gas station on Ohio River Boulevard to investigate a suspicious person. Investigators are working to identify the driver after the chase and crash at Cranberry Commons Mall. The vehicle smashed into the Lane Bryant store, causing extensive damage.
Investigators are trying to identify the driver who fatally shot himself early Saturday morning after police pursued him into the parking lot of the Cranberry Commons shopping center. According to Cranberry Police Sgt. Chuck Mascellino, Adams Township police attempted to stop the driver around 3:15 a.m. after the man sped past an officer near Mars Area High School on Route 228. “The driver refused to stop for the officer and was pursed into Cranberry Township,” Mascellino said in a statement. “Cranberry Township police officers were approaching the area of Route 228 to assist the Adams Township officer when the vehicle turned into the Cranberry Commons shopping center.” After entering the shopping center, the driver fired a single gunshot …

Police pursued the car from Sewickley Heights into Butler County.
A Cranberry Township police officer and another man were seriously injured during a chase that began late last night in Sewickley Heights after both men fell more than 20 feet from a bridge on Interstate 79 in Butler County. Cpl. Dan Hahn, 47, is underwent surgery at Allegheny General Hospital on Pittsburgh's North Side for serious injuires to his neck and back.
