Quaker Valley fought hard, but lost 6-5 Saturday to West Chester East in the Class A Pennsylvania Cup final, according to Champs Sports Network. The teams played at the Ice Works Arena in Ashton, PA. The Quakers rallied hard in the third period. The Tribune Review reports that East led, 6-2, with 9:47 remaining in the game, but Quaker Valley got power-play goals to cut the lead in half. QV was looking to clinch its second consecutive state championship title, but still finished a commendable season at 25-1-0.
The Quakers will take on West Chester East in the Pennsylvania Cup finals.
Quaker Valley will play in the Pennsylvania Cup finals after winning the PIHL Class A Championship this week. The Quakers will head to Ashton, PA for the match up against West Chester East on Saturday, March 23. The puck drops at 11 a.m. at Ice Works. QV advanced after defeating Mars 5-1 Wednesday evening at Consol Energy Center. This is the second consecutive year they've won and gone to the state championships. The championship game is Wednesday at Consol Energy Center.
For the second year in a row, the Quaker Valley Varsity Hockey Team will take on the Mars Planets in the Class A Penguins Cup Finals at the Consol Energy Center. The puck drops at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20. The Quakers earned their berth in the finals by defeating Kittaning 5-2. You can find a recap of the game, reported by the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League, by clicking here. Mars defeated Greensburg Central 13-1 to advance to the finals. Come watch Quaker Valley Varsity Hockey finish first in the regular season Monday when they play South Park to secure a first place seed in the playoffs. QV Seniors Kevin Kenny, Jayson Lottes, Luke O’Neill and Doug Revak will be honored on Senior Night. Festivities will begin at 7:15 p.m. and the game begins at 7:30 p.m. at Airport Ice Arena. Giveaways will be available to the first fans in the rink who show their support. Wear Quaker Valley Hockey colors and make some noise for the seniors! Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for students.
