LOOK: Quaker Valley Middle School Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Borough and district officials gathered Friday morning for a ribbon cutting outside the Quaker Valley Middle School, which reopened Monday after undergoing a $26.5 million renovation.

Quaker Valley and Sewickley officials, along with middle school students, gathered outside the middle school on Friday morning for a ribbon-cutting ceremony, welcoming the reopening of the renovated school. Prior to the ribbon cutting, students who are members of the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts raised the flag at the pole outside the main entrance on Harbaugh Street.   The school reopened on Monday after undergoing a $26.5 million renovation. Middle school students in grades six to eight attended classes in other buildings during the construction phase of the project. Superintendent Joseph Clapper called the work a team effort, and thanked everyone from school board members to borough and project leaders. The district plans an Open House …

Sheetz Plans Grand Opening Celebration at Mt. Nebo Location

Grand opening festivities are planned for the new Sheetz off the Mt. Nebo exit of Interstate 79.

Following months of construction work, the newest Sheetz store is prepared to open Thursday off the Interstate-79 Mt. Nebo exit in Ohio Township. As part of the grand-opening festivities, the store is having a ribbon-cutting ceremony at 11 a.m. Thursday at the 1910 Mt. Nebo Road location. Stacy Jones, Sheetz spokeswoman, said the first 50 customers in line will also receive a $100 Sheetz gift card, good for food and beverages.  "We expect people to be in line before dawn," Jones said.  Joe Sheetz, executive vice president of finance and store development, is expected to be joined by Ohio Township, Sewickley Borough and Allegheny County officials for the ribbon cutting.  "This is the last time they'll unlock the doors to the Sheetz. Sewickley Welcomes Tournesol and Fancy's Folly

Ribbon cuttings took place Thursday and Friday for the two stores.

Sewickley helped celebrate the grand openings of two new businesses Thursday and Friday with ribbon cutting ceremonies. On Thursday, Tournesol at 425 Walnut St., was officially welcomed to the Village of Sewickley with a grand-opening ribbon cutting outside the store. Sewickley Mayor Brian Jeffe also delivered Tournesol owner Barbara Reilly with a proclamation. On Friday, the mayor stopped by Fancy’s Folly to celebrate the grand opening of the upscale boutique and "pop up store" that has returned to the Sewickley Village at 427 Broad St., the Elan Gallery building. Grand Openings Welcome Sidelines, Cocothé to Sewickley

A ribbon cutting for Cocothé took place Thursday followed by a grand opening celebration for Sidelines today.

Standing outside the Sidelines Beer House, Sewickley Mayor Brian Jeffe presided over his second ribbon cutting in just two days. A grand opening for Sidelines took place at noon Friday, a day after a ribbon cuting was held Thursday at Cocothé on Beaver Street. On Thursday, Cocothé, a French-inspired shop, owned by Courtney Yatesheld a grand opening party in the shop at 541 Beaver St. The shop sells have gourmet, organic, natural and unique flavors of chocolate, and various kinds of loose leaf teas.  Today, staff stood outside 518 Locust Place alongside owner Bob Miller and executive chef Brad Murray to celebrate the grand opening of the new neighborhood bar, which serves 200 kinds of beer and "bar food with a flair." Threadz will have its official grand opening at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Sewickley boutique sells women's clothing, shoes and accessories.

Rhonda McFarland is not new to retail. She has logged 12 years in the industry, the last of which was spent at Bailey & Bailey. With Bailey & Bailey moving into retirement, McFarland decided to move in a new direction and is opening the new boutique Threadz. At 11 a.m. Saturday, Mayor Brian Jeffe will cut yet another ribbon, officially opening the new store in the Village.
