With Mother's Day right around the corner, Ross Park Mall invites moms to a night of relaxation and pampering with "Mom's Nite Out" on May 9. This year, Mom’s Nite Out is presented at Ross Park by Bob FM and Q92.9, and mothers are invited to a night of fun, prizes and fashion. The free event is an excuse for moms to take the night off to relax and enjoy a celebration of motherhood. The stores are undergoing a complete home department renovation.
JC Penney's is revamping the home good section of 500 of its 1,100 stores, including its Mall at Robinson and Ross Park Mall locations. Designers such as Jonathan Adler and Michael Graves will anchor Penney’s new home goods section, which will have 20 shops by the time the renovations are complete. The new home section is part of the company's plan to remake Penney's larger stores into collections of boutiques-within-a-store, reported Reuters.com. Two other stores are undergoing spring makeovers.
Ross Park Mall will welcome three new stores by the end of April, and a fourth by mid-summer. Starbucks will open at the end of the month in the center of the mall. Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics will open in mid-April. The company hand-makes a variety of soaps, shampoos, shower gels, and lotions using fruits, vegetables, and essential oils rather than animal fat and oils. Deer Creek Winery is also set to open in mid-April. It will feature Pennsylvania wines and will be located besides Macy's on the lower level. Some malls have special hours to accommodate returns and sales.
To accommodate seasonal sales and the returns of items purchased, many Pittsburgh-area shopping malls will have special hours of operation for the week following Christmas Day, while some malls will simply revert back to their normal schedules. Five people are suspected of a coordinated shoplifting hit at the Ross Park Mall store.
Ross Township police have released photos of the five people suspected of a cooridnated-shoplifting hit on the Louis Vuitton store in the Ross Park Mall Thursday night. Police said the five walked into the store around 8 p.m., and working together, grabbed the pricey handbags off the displays and were gone in about 30 seconds. By the time employees realized what was going on it was too late. "The employees did attempt to confront the actors when they fled the store," said Detective Brian Kohlhepp. "No one was injured and no customers were ever in danger." Police said they have leads and are reviewing surveillance video of the brazen Ross Park Mall theft.
Ross Township police are looking for five people suspected of walking into the Louis Vuitton Store in Ross Park Mall about 8 p.m. Thursday and walking out with an undetermined number of handbags. Store officials were conducting an inventory Friday morning to determine the extent of the loss. The designer handbags aren't cheap, with some costing more than $1,000 each. Ross Township police say a mother coerced her 14-year-old daughter to go on a high-end shoplifting spree inside Ross Park Mall Sunday, before police nabbed them on McKnight Road. Kate Spiker, 38, of Sharpsburg, was seen snatching high-end purses inside Nordstrom, according to police. Her daughter was outside, behind the wheel of a rented pick-up truck, waiting while her mother made several trips in and out of various shops with the loot. “They took nearly $5,000 worth of merchandise,” said Ross Twp. They include: Besides the new stores, Ann Taylor and Spencer Gifts will get renovations this year. “It’s only the beginning of the year, and look at the additions that have been announced,” said Lisa Earl, Ross Park Mall manager. “Just imagine what the rest of 2012 has in store for Ross Park Mall shoppers.”

Home appliance and consumer electronics retailer, hhgregg, is opening a new store in the space formerly occupied by Office Depot on McKnight Road, a company official confirmed Thursday. Jeff Pearson, senior vice president of marketing, said the company signed the lease for the 25,000-square-foot space in Ross Towne Center and plans to open for business in early to mid-Spring.
