Sewickley police continue to remain vigilant following several vehicle break-ins in the borough involving unlocked cars. Sewickley Police Chief James Ersher is reminding residents to lock their car doors. Sewickley police also responded to the following recent incidents. Vehicle violations Police stopped a car on Feb. 24 that was driven by James Brightwell, 34, of Beaver Falls, following a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Graham Street and the Ohio River Boulevard in Sewickley. Police said Brightwell’s car struck another vehicle in the rear, then left the scene. The other driver chased Brightwell into Emsworth before Ohio Township police stopped the car on Camp Horne Road. Craig Moore is accused of stealing a car in Aleppo and rummaging through cars in the township and in nearby Sewickley Heights.
An Aleppo man accused of stealing a vehicle and various items from parked cars waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday in two separate cases. At the request of Steve Colafella, attorney for Craig Anthony Moore, Magisterial Judge Robert Ford agreed to lower Moore's bond to $100 in both cases. Moore remains in Allegheny County Jail on a detainer for a DUI charge for which he has four months' probation, Colafella said. Ohio Township police charged Moore, 27, of Rhodes Avenue, with two counts of theft and one count each of receiving stolen property, access device fraud and providing false identification to law enforcement.
