Sewickley's annual 2013 Spring Gallery Walk is on Friday, April 26 and Saturday, April 27 with opening receptions from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday. The gallery openings extend from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. St. James Parish —200 Walnut St. "St. James Frames" presents more than 10 artists' works on display including paintings, photographs and sculpture in the St. James Gathering Space. Included are works by an artist in physical rehabilitation and several young artists of the parish. Available for sale will be a 2014 calendar and stationary representing the artistic efforts of the children of St. James School. There are 32 individuals enrolled in Sewickley, but at least 100 are needed.
As it celebrates 100 years, the American Cancer Society is looking for more Sewickley residents to help in the fight against cancer by joining a historic research study. “By joining this study, people can literally help us save lives, giving future generations more time with families and friends, more memories, more celebrations, and more birthdays,” said Sharon Stalter, Health Initiatives representative. “As the official sponsor of birthdays, celebrating our own 100th birthday in 2013, we can think of no more valuable contribution to the cancer fight.” The American Cancer Society recently held its Sewickley kickoff for the Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3), a nationwide study to help researchers better understand the genetic, …

Kathryn Richardson opened Rosewood in Sewickley last year. The Sewickley store has been doing well, and she’s now working to build her South Hills location.
A Sewickley boutique owner has expanded her unique clothing boutique to a second location in her hometown. Kathryn Richardson, who grew up in Mt. Lebanon, opened Rosewood in Sewickley in March 2011, and opened her second location on Washington Road in her hometown last August. Richardson said she settled on the Mt. Lebanon storefront because the location is a “happy medium” between several communities—including Dormont, Brookline, Scott Township and Upper St. Clair—which are home to many young professionals, her target demographic. “We opened a boutique in Sewickley in 2011, and after being there for a year and a half we saw that this is something Pittsburgh doesn’t have a lot of, especially in the suburbs,” Richardson said.
