Police Blotter: Authorities Investigate Possible Sexual Assault

Sewickley police said the alleged rape occurred earlier this month.

Police received a report Feb. 11 of a sexual assault involving a teen who was raped by an 18-year-old man. Police were told the alleged assault occurred Feb. 9 at a bonfire somewhere in Sewickley. The matter has been turned over to Allegheny County Police detectives. Charges have not been filed.   Sewickley police also responded to the following incidents. Each incident reflects police records and is not an indication of guilt: Wallet theft report  Police were called at 5:15 p.m. Feb. 16 to the Sewickley Valley YMCA to take a theft report. Prosecution: Surveillance Videos Link Arthur Henderson to Crimes

Henderson, who is representing himself, said the videos do not prove anything. He is charged with raping and robbing three women.

The prosecution in the trial of Arthur Lamont Henderson on Thursday used surveillance camera videos to show his alleged whereabouts on the day he is accused of raping a woman in Ross Township, according to local media reports. But Henderson, who is representing himself, countered that the videos do not prove anything, KDKA reports. The 39-year-old North Side man is charged with raping and robbing two women in Ross Township and one in Hopewell Township in January 2012. One video shows a man in a gray hooded sweatshirt walking down a hallway leading to a Citizens Bank ATM in Manchester where police say the man tried to use three credit cards belonging to a Ross Township woman who had just been raped, according to KDKA. Dr. Thomas Tyma Sentenced to 60 Days in Jail for Sexually Assaulting Patients

The rheumatologist, who formerly practiced in Wexford, was led away in handcuffs after sentencing.

Dr. Thomas Tyma was led away from court in handcuffs this morning after a judge sentenced him to 60 days in jail, a year of house arrest and six years of probation for touching former female patients inappropriately. Common Pleas Court Judge Donna Jo McDaniel pronounced the sentence after hearing testimony from Tyma's family and three female victims. In March, McDaniel found Tyma guilty of 17 counts of indecent assault and 16 counts of harassment on women who were examined at Allegheny North Arthritis Center in Wexford, UPMC Passavant and Jameson South in New Castle, Lawrence County. Ross Township Man Pleads Not Guilty to Touching Girl Inappropriately

The girl, now 14, testified at a preliminary hearing that Horlick touched her inappropriately .

A Ross Township man pleaded not guilty to charges that he touched a young girl inappropriately on two occasions. Leetsale Magisterial District Judge Robert Ford ordered Brian Horlick, 46, to stand trial on all charges in the case involving the 14-year-old girl. He is charged with one count of aggravated assault and two counts each of indecent assault and endangering the welfare of children. Horlick didn’t testify and offered no comment after the hearing on Tuesday. The girl, now 14, testified she was 7 when Horlick first touched her inappropriately during the two years he dated her mother. Patch does not identify alleged victims of sexual assault. Around the Rivers: RMU Student Sexually Assaulted Outside a Business

Police said a woman reported being sexually assaulted behind the Smoke Stack.

Moon Police said a 22-year-old female Robert Morris University student was sexually assaulted Thursday outside the Smoke Stack on University Boulevard.  Police said the woman was attacked between 6:30 and 7 p.m. as she returned to her car, which was parked behind the building on Carnot Road. The woman told police that as she returned to her vehicle, a male grabbed her from the back and placed a weapon, possibly a box-cutter knife, to her neck.  The suspect was attempting to sexually assault the woman as she broke free, according to police. The woman was injured in the struggle, receiving a gash in her leg as well as bruises and abrasions. She has been treated and released from Heritage Valley Sewickley Hospital, police said. Coraopolis Man Arrested in Penitentiary Probe

Investigators arrest a guard at SCI Pittsburgh on dozens of sexual and physical assault charges involving inmates at the North Side prison.

A Coraopolis man is accused of sexually assaulting prisoners at the State Correctional Institute of Pittsburgh where he worked as a prison guard. Harry Nicoletti, 59, of School Street in Coraopolis, has been charged in the sexual and physical assault of more than 20 inmates at the North Side facility. The Allegheny County District Attorney's Office said Nicoletti was taken into custody this morning and will be arraigned today in Pittsburgh Municipal Court. He is accused of multiple counts of institutional sexual assault, official oppression, indecent exposure, making terroristic threats, simple assault and bringing contraband into the prison. According to the complaint, Nicoletti threatened inmates and forced himself sexually on them. …
