Police: Suspicious Man Approaches Girl, Chases Her Home

Sewickley police said the girl was outside her home when the man stopped to talk to her.

A man accosted a Sewickley teenager recently then chased her into her home when she began to run away from him, Sewickley police reported. Police said the man was walking south shortly before 10:30 p.m. Dec. 27 on Washington Street when he stopped on the sidewalk at the end of the teen's driveway and said, “hi sweetie, how are you doing?” At this time, the 13-year-old picked up her dog and began to move toward the house when the male began to run after her, police said. Police said the girl ran into the house and told her mother, who called the Sewickley police station first but received no answer. West Allegheny Teen Suffering Rare Sleep Syndrome to Appear on 'Jeff Probst Show'

A local teenager suffers from a rare and debilitating disease, causing her to go into long periods of deep sleep and lethargy.

Vicki Delien recalls one holiday season when her now 17-year-old daughter Nicole missed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve. The West Allegheny student, who suffers from the rare neurological disorder Kleine-Levin Syndrome, slept through the holidays, awaking one day in January when she finally opened Christmas gifts alongside her family.  Delien said her family has grappled with her daughter's debilitating condition, sometimes called "Sleeping Beauty Syndrome," which causes Nicole to periodically fall asleep for days or weeks at a time.  "She's never really adjusted to it," Delien said. North Park Incident Involving Teen Under Investigation

16-year-old girl taken to UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.

Allegheny County police are investigating after a 16-year-old girl was injured in North Park Monday evening, according to KDKA. The teen was taken to UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh where she is being treated for head and leg injuries, KDKA reported. Police told KDKA the girl is too upset to talk about what happened. Police said they do not know how she was hurt because they have not spoken to the victim yet. Authorities said they are investigating all possibilities. Search dogs were in the park to retrace the girl's steps, police said. Authorities said a woman and her daughter found the teen near a tree just before 6 p.m. Monday night in North Park, according to WPXI.
